Keeping Children Safe
The wellbeing and safety of all students is the highest priority for Catholic schools. Catholic Education Western Australia is committed to child safety and leading and supporting a child safe culture for all our schools, care centres and communities.
Catholic Education Western Australia encourages and supports every member of our Catholic school communities to make good decisions that always keep the best interests of the child or young person first.
All our schools enact a Code of Conduct that promotes positive work practices and establishes expectations for personal and professional boundaries concerning appropriate and inappropriate behaviour for staff, students, volunteers, parents and guardians, and visitors. There are clear procedures for raising concerns, facilitating discussion, and promoting professional behaviours and healthy relationships.
Our schools meet registration standards and other compliance obligations, including Mandatory Reporting, Codes of Conduct for staff and students, protective behaviours curriculum, training for staff and students, and information for parents and carers.
We lead and support a mindset and practice of modelling healthy and respectful relationships to prevent problem behaviours and abuse.
The Catholic Education Western Australia Child Safe Framework is based on the latest research in child safety for institutions, is in support of best practice, and is consistent with the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse recommendations.

I have had the pleasure of working as the Social Worker at Sacred Heart Primary School for 9 years and 20 years with Catholic Education in WA. Before this I lived and worked in the UK, where I graduated as a qualified social worker at Pymouth University 32 years ago.
Each Wednesday term time, I am available to students, staff, parents and carers at Sacred Heart School. Parents/carers can make an appointment to see me via e mail, through admin or in person. The way in which I may help and support a family will be discussed. If parents/carers would like me to meet with their child, a Parental Permission Form to do so will need to be signed by parents/carers.
As part of my role, I visit classrooms to offer sessions and support with our Keeping Safe Curriculum, social skills and in any way the leadership team and teachers would like me to do so. I am a registered facilitator of Circle of Security Parenting and offer series of workshops for parents/carers.
Circle of Security International presents trainings around the globe focusing on the early intervention models to increase attachment and security developed by Glen Cooper, Kent Hoffman, and Bert Powell
I offer Morning Teas and evening information sessions on topics of interest and by request from parents and staff to support the well being of our students in their journey of learning.
I look forward to sharing information, resources, tips and ideas on a regular basis in this social work corner.
More coming soon.
