Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day in Australia is an occasion to commemorate and remember all Australians in the armed forces who have died in the line of duty. Last Friday, our Year 5 students and Mrs Taylor prepared a very moving ceremony to commemorate Remembrance Day and to honour the memory of those soldiers who died fighting in all wars and conflicts. Lest we forget.

Sacred Heart, St Mary’s and Bradken Partnership

As long-term members of the Goldfields community, and being a regional centre, Bradken recognises and appreciates the efforts from Sacred Heart Primary School and St Mary’s that have gone into the start-up of this city-country STEM initiative. As a Grandfather to a young girl at St Mary’s – Graham Kennedy hopes for the seeds being sown, with the help of our sponsorship and the support of both schools, that she can be anything she wants and will have the STEM based skills, education and resources proudly supported by Bradken and the Schools from a young age to go for those goals if that is her dream.

2024 Booklists

By now, all parents will have received electronic information regarding the ordering of the Kindy to Year 6 Booklists. Ordering book lists is done online, following the instructions on the Campion website. You will need to use “R9W8” as your code. Please note: ordering book lists by the 1st December will attract a $5 postage and handling fee. Orders can still be placed past the ‘return date’ but will incur a late fee of $8.

Library Book Return

As the school year draws to a close, we ask that all outstanding school library books are returned no later than Friday 24th November.   Library books can be returned either directly to your child’s teacher, or to the library chute (at next week’s Library class). Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Lego Donations

Mrs Perlini is currently looking at some extra STEM activities with Lego in 2024 and would love any donations of unwanted Lego for the Science Lab, including the Lego block bases. She will sanitise all donations before use. If you have any Lego donations, please send them with your child to school. All donations will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

A few friendly reminders….

Emailing Teachers: Please allow 24 hours for a reply to all emails and note that SHPSH staff are not available (or expected) to respond to emails sent/received outside of school hours; a response will be given during daytime hours. Please use the ‘send later’ option if drafting an email after hours.

Gate to the Junior Area: A reminder that the Junior Playground Area is not available to students before and after school. The Gate into the Junior Area needs to remain closed. A staff member will open the gate at 8:30 am each day, at which time parents and students may make their way to the classrooms. Thank you for your co-operation with the above.

Hot weather: As the weather is heating up, we would like to remind parents to ensure that their children apply sunscreen in the mornings before they come to school. It is school policy that students wear their Sacred Heart Hat when they are outside. Students without a hat will be asked to sit undercover during break times if they do not have a hat. Please provide your child with a Sacred Heart, wide-brimmed hat, so the children can play happily and be protected. Hydrating- Active children may become dehydrated more easily than adults, so it is important to replace fluids regularly throughout the school day. Having a water bottle at school allows the students to access it during class.

Congratulations to Giselle Ottobrino in Year 6 who was fortunate enough to participate in a special soccer training session with the Matildas and super star, Sam Kerr! Please enjoy the photos, and hopefully Giselle’s future will be as a Matilda in the making!!
