What to expect in an Open Classroom session

An Open Classroom is a planned visit to the classroom where students are encouraged to celebrate their learning with their parents, by viewing and interacting with workbooks, files, displayed pieces of work, computer work, and educational games.  It is a time for parents to view and discuss the learning that has occurred during the term with their child.

The Open Classroom aims to allow your child to critically reflect upon, evaluate and discuss his/her learning. It is important that students be able to explain to parents the tasks they have accomplished, what they have learnt, and how they might need to improve or change some aspects of their learning. In order for this to occur, numbers in classrooms are strictly limited and must be booked.

An Open Classroom is a time of positive interaction.  The role of the teacher during the Open Classroom is to clarify any questions you may have.  The Open Classroom is led by the student, not the teacher.  If you have an issue you would like to discuss privately with the teacher, it is recommended that you make an appointment to meet at another time.

Thank you for your continued support.

Family STEM Competition for National Science Week Results

The Family STEM Competition for National Week proved to be very popular amongst our Sacred Heart families. The submissions were of a very high quality. Congratulations to the Holloway Family who were crowned ‘SHPSH’s Innovative Family for National Science Week 2023’! Thank you to all of the other families for their time, creativity and contributions. We hope you enjoyed working together as a family for this competition.

Happy Father’s Day

We hope that all of our Sacred Heart fathers and father-figures enjoyed last Sunday. We thank our P and F for providing a wonderful breakfast last Friday.

Pre-Primary Bunnings Father’s Day Incursion

The Pre-Primary class had a wonderful morning with their dads. To start the morning off the children played quoits, created animals and buildings using LEGO and also competed in an egg and spoon race. Then children worked with their dads to build and paint a tools holder and key chains. We really appreciated all the wonderful resources Bunnings shared with us.

Year 3 Zoo Excursion

On Tuesday 5th September the Year 3 students went on a class excursion to Perth Zoo. In small groups, students were involved in an educational experience that explored the similarities and differences of the vertebrate classes, with some of the most interesting and exciting animals from across the globe. Students had the opportunity to explore the zoo and complete their booklet which focused on selecting one African mammal, an animal from Asia and an Australian reptile. It was a great day and the students had lots of fun.
