Open Classrooms

Thank you to our teachers and staff for their preparation of last week’s Open Classrooms. We hope that parents enjoyed sharing this time with their child to explore their classroom work samples.

Remembrance Day Ceremony

Remembrance Day in Australia is an occasion to commemorate and remember all Australians in the armed forces who have died in the line of duty. Last Friday, our Year 5 students and Mrs Taylor prepared a very moving ceremony to commemorate Remembrance Day and to honour the memory of those soldiers who died fighting in all wars and conflicts.

Lest we forget.

Hot Weather Reminder

As the weather is heating up, we would like to remind parents to ensure that their children apply sunscreen in the mornings before they come to school. It is school policy that students wear their Sacred Heart Hat when they are outside. Students without a hat will be asked to sit undercover during break times if they do not have a hat. Please provide your child with a Sacred Heart, wide-brimmed hat, so the children can play happily and be protected. Hydrating- Active children may become dehydrated more easily than adults, so it is important to replace fluids regularly throughout the school day. Having a water bottle at school allows the students to access it during class.

Concert and Awards Night Reminder

It is fast approaching the end of the 2022 school year, and that most special of times, Christmas. We have been preparing an amazing end of year Concert that narrates the story of Jesus’ birth and showcases the students’ skills.

The concert, “Christmas Star”, will involve each class (Years Kindergarten-Year 6) performing an item. The evening will involve each class performing a part of the story using drama, movements, instruments, vocals, and colour. The Year One students will be leading the narration and drama of the Nativity. (Pre-Kindy students will not be performing at the Concert, however, together with their families, they are most welcome to attend the evening). Information regarding costumes has previously been communicated to parents.

This year’s Concert will take place on Friday 2nd December 2022 on the School Oval. The Harold Street gates will open at 5:30pm, enabling families to share a picnic if they choose. Children are asked to arrive at their classrooms at 6.15pm to prepare for their performances. Students will stay with their class teachers for the whole Concert. Parents are asked to please be seated by 6:20pm. The Concert and Prize Night will start at 6:30pm. All families will be limited to a space that is the size of a picnic blanket. Travel rugs/ blankets are encouraged, but those parents who bring along chairs, will be requested to sit at the very back of the Oval parent area. All students will remain with their class teachers for the duration of the evening, but will need a warm jacket or cardigan. At the end of the evening, we ask all parents to follow teachers’ directions, and collect their children from their class groupings.  We expect to finish at approximately 8:30pm.
