LifeLink Day 2022 – Crazy Hair Day

Archbishop Costelloe SDB has warmly invited primary schools in the Archdiocese of Perth to join together to participate in LifeLink Day 2022. Students are invited to make a gold coin donation for LifeLink Day, which is launched early June, and we will invite all students to participate in a ‘Crazy Hair Day’ by wearing crazy hairstyles (coloured hair-spray allowed) to school on Friday 27 May. All gold coins collected on this day will go directly to the LifeLink agencies. We are looking forward to everyone’s support for LifeLink on this day.

SHPSH Street Library

Located on the outside wall of our school library, and supported by our P & F, you will find the SHPSH Street Library – a beautiful home for books. Students, parents and staff can simply reach in and take what interests them; when they are done, they can return them to the Street Library. If anyone has a book or two that they think others would enjoy, they can just pop it into our Street Library when they happen to be walking past.

Term 2 Coding Club

Recently we launched our After-School Coding Club for our Years 3-6 students on Monday afternoons, with an overwhelming number of students choosing to join the club. Our students are mastering coding skills using tech and no-tech over the coming weeks. We have been very impressed with the students’ enthusiasm and problem-solving skills. Keep up the excellent work!

Lunchtime LEGO Club

Our Years 1 and 3 students have been enjoying their lunchtime LEGO sessions this term. In small groups, they are working on creating different types of bridges. Have a look at some of their amazing creations so far!

Pupil-Free Days: Term 2 Reminder

A reminder that Friday June 3rd (Staff Professional Development Day), Monday 6th June (Public Holiday) and Tuesday 7th June (Catholicity Day) are all pupil-free days. The school is closed on the above dates. Term 2 concludes on Friday 1st July.

School Photo Day

School photos are taking place on Wednesday 15th June. Information for ordering school photos will be sent home with your child soon. Please remember that full school uniform, including the red jumper and tie, must be worn on this day (Years 1-6). Kindy and Pre-Primary students must wear their full school tracksuit.  Please note: Family photos will be offered during school photo day – details to follow.  Note: Pre-Kindy students will need to come in for the Pre-Kindergarten photo at 8.45 am on the Wednesday (one parent allowed to accompany our Pre-Kindy students for the photo, after using the hand-sanitiser stations – entry via the Mary St Pedestrian Gate). Note: Due to the number of absentees this year, Photo Hendricks will be offering a Make-up Photography Day at school for students who will miss the official Photo Day. The Make-Up Photography Day will be Tuesday 28th June.

A reminder to keep unwell children at home

With Winter around the corner, and with the rise of Covid infections in our school community, we feel that it is a good time to review school procedures in regards to children who are unwell at school. If your child is unwell or displaying Covid symptoms, your child is to remain at home.  A child who is unwell will not be able to perform well in school and is likely to spread the illness to other children and staff.

Please do not send your child to school if he/she is unwell, such as:

  1. A fever in the past 24 hours
  2. Vomiting in the past 24 hours
  3. Diarrhoea in the past 24 hours
  4. A bad cold, with a very runny nose or bad cough, especially if it has kept the child awake at night.
  5. Head lice – live bugs or nits (lice eggs)
  6. A rash
  7. Pinkeye

If your child becomes unwell at school and the teacher or school feels the child is too sick to benefit from school or is contagious to other children, you will be called to come and take him/her home from school. If your daytime or emergency phone numbers change during the year, please notify the school immediately. Following these procedures are meant to serve the best interests of all the children and staff in our school. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the School Office.
