LifeLink Launch Day

On Wednesday 2nd June, the four representatives from the Pastoral Care Council, together with Mrs Perlini and Mrs McGuire, attended the 2021 Lifelink Launch Day at Newman College. Lifelink provides support and funding to agencies that care for the community. We would like to thank our Year 6 leaders for the outstanding behaviour and leadership they exhibited throughout this special event.

The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Today we spent a wonderful day celebrating the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The day began with a very special mass celebrated by Fr Mark. We were very fortunate to have this mass attended by several Sisters from Our Lady Of the Missions. The staff of Sacred Heart enjoyed a special morning tea this morning. Throughout the day, our students had a lovely time participating in several Feast Day activities. We would like to thank staff for their assistance and involvement in the preparation of this day. We hope that the students had a wonderful day.

Year 4 Eucharist Retreat Day

On Thursday, 11th June, the Year Four students completed their First Holy Communion Retreat. The retreat took place at school in the chapel and seminar room at the Pastoral Centre, on site. The students completed a variety of activities including decorating a plate and glass with Eucharistic symbols, making and eating unleavened bread and drinking grape juice. They had the opportunity to re-enact the Scripture Story of the Last Supper. The students had a wonderful day.

Last Monday, our after-school STEM Club students explored the concepts of Gravity and Air Resistance. The students worked in small groups to design, make and race parachutes! The students investigated how the size of the parachute canopy, and the material it’s made from, affects the speed (slowest one wins!).

Words for Wellness

In the hustle and bustle of our busy lives, it is easy to forget to demonstrate good manners.  Our children are reliant upon us as adults to role model and reinforce the behaviour we seek from them that is filled with respect, honour and kindness.

Take time to watch, listen and reflect upon the clip below.  We all learn a skill when it becomes familiar to us, so that over time we do it without thinking. The best gift we can give our children is often something as simple as this.
