The Parent and Candidate Workshop for children receiving their First Eucharist took place last Thursday. It was a special time for the candidates and their parent/s to spend together preparing for this Sacrament. We thank Mrs Tanya McGuire for facilitating the workshop. We also thank the candidates and parents for their attendance and wonderful participation. On Friday, our students completed their Retreat Day, and are to be commended for their reverence and participation throughout the day.
On the 2nd and 9th of August at 4 pm, many of our Year 4 students will be celebrating the sacrament of First Eucharist. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Amanda Saraceni, who continues to prepare the students for this special sacrament. We ask that you continue to pray for the Year 4 students as they prepare for this special milestone in their faith development.
School Photo Day: 26 August 2020
A reminder: School photos will take place Wednesday 26th August. Information for ordering school photos will be sent home with your child soon. Please remember that the correct Winter school uniform, including the red jumper, tie and lace-up school shoes must be worn on Photo Day.
A reminder to keep unwell children at home
Now that it is Winter, and in particular during the COVID period, we feel that it is a good time to review school procedures in regards to children who are unwell at school. If your child is unwell, it is most appropriate to keep him/her home from school. A child who is unwell will not be able to perform well in school and is likely to spread the illness to other children and staff.
Please do not send your child to school if he/she is unwell, such as:
- A fever in the past 24 hours
- Vomiting in the past 24 hours
- Diarrhoea in the past 24 hours
- A bad cold, with a very runny nose or bad cough, especially if it has kept the child awake at night.
- Head lice – live bugs or nits (lice eggs)
- A rash
If your child becomes unwell at school and the teacher or school feels the child is too sick to benefit from school or is contagious to other children, you will be called to come and take him/her home from school. If your daytime or emergency phone numbers change during the year, please notify the school immediately. Following these procedures are meant to serve the best interests of all the children and staff in our school. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the School Office.
Many of our students participated in the Italian Festival Primary School Students’ Competition this year, organised by the Italo-Australian Welfare & Cultural Centre. Sacred Heart students won both the Year 1 and Year 2 Levels. Congratulations to Miranda Maley in Year 1 and Ivy Heenan in Year 2 who were the winners of their respective year groups- what a wonderful achievement! We thank Signora Botros for co-ordinating the entries for Sacred Heart. Signora Botros is very proud of all the students. Bravissimo!
Term 3 Curriculum Outlines
The teachers will post the Term 3 Curriculum outlines on SEESAW at the end of next week. Please take the time to read the outlines and discover what your child will be learning in Term 3.

Choir has started with a bang in term 3. Just a reminder rehearsals take place from 8:10am – 8:40am in the Music Room. If your child is considering choir there’s no better time than next week. Entry is through the Harold Street gate only.
All year 4-6 students are more than welcome to attend for a trial week. I’m sure you will love it.
